ATV3 works great on wifi, no AirPlay with ethernet

I just got an ATV 3 and when I set it up in my WiFi network (AirPort Express) it works great.  I wanted to decrease the latency from my iPad (4th gen) on some airplay games and read about plugging in to the network via ethernet to speed things up a bit. As soon as I do this, the AirPlay icon disappears from the ipad and any and all other iOS devices on the network.  Any ideas?  I tried resetting the modem, the AirPort, the ATV, the iPad, restoring the ATV factory settings, all to no avail. Ideas??

AirPlay using Ethernet not working

Hi all,

I have recently connected my Apple TV 2 via Ethernet to increase performance and stability.

I went to try AirPlay and I cannot see the icon on the iPad 2.

AirPlay is turned on in the Apple TV settings menu.

I tried restarting both the iPad 2 and Apple TV but still nothing.

I was able to connect my iMac to share my iTunes library with no problems but I can't seem to get AirPlay working with the Ethernet connection.

The iPad 2 is using the same network connection as the Ethernet.

Prior to connecting with Ethernet I was able to use AirPlay on wifi.

Any ideas on how I can get AirPlay working using Ethernet?
