3.55 GB Magically Occupied by "Other"

When I hook my ipad up to my imac, it use to accurately show how much harddrive I had used up, but the other day suddenly this 3.55 GB of "other" appeared.

It is a 16 GB ipad and when I view my usage according to what shows up in itunes on my imac, it adds up to 7.218 GB not including this "other" 3.55 GB and says I have 2.98 GB left to use.

When I view "Usage" under the General tab on my ipad it says I have 2.8 GB left to use, and everything   adds up to 7.3451 GB (I made sure to click "Show all Apps" so I didn't miss anything).

Any ideas on correcting this without having to completely wipe it out and restore it?

Thanks.
