I have never previously had any problems with Home Sharing, I have always found it to be completely reliable as advertised. I have 2 computers in the house, (one MacBook and one Windows Desktop) connected to the same Home Sharing account, connected to the same BT Home Hub 4. My situation is that I have nearly 2TB of data of which I would like to share with the home wirelessly, in my mind the desktop is the logical place for this to be shared from.
When running, iTunes on this desktop broadcasts to other iTunes libraries, but no other iOS devices or Apple TV's connected to the same Home Sharing account cannot see it.
I have tried turning Home Sharing off, and then turning it back on, closing iTunes, restarting the computer, going to Network and Sharing Centre and unticking IPv6 in the network adapter properties, even completely wiping the computer and reinstalling Windows 7.
One of the Apple TV's in the house was recently purchased by my parents with the promise from me that everything would work seamlessly... so far it isn't and I am frustrated that the Apple technology that I have come to rely on isn't working as expected.
One thing that has occurred to me upon writing this is that it is a very large amount of data, and I have not attempted to share this with another computer that is currently working and broadcasting it's Home Share fine.
I am sorry if I have ommitted any important details, any further questions don't hesitate to ask. I would be so grateful of any suggestions, my parents are depending on me.
I entered this question on google and came up with apple support page. I luckily found the answer from member "dgrahasm" posted Feb12-2012 that gave the "spot-on" answer to my problem. Well done and Thanks
what is the solution as my iPad mini will not connect to any of my networks (has worked fine for 8 months)
Thanks, Neil
We are trying to get AirPlay working between the Apple TV 2 and an iPad 2 on our College network. The aim is to allow teachers to walk around the classroom mirroring what's on the iPad screen to the projector (via Apple TV).
We have an enterprise network and our usual WiFi SSID uses radius authentication. Obviously Apple TV 2 doesn't support enterprise setups so we created a new SSID that requires WPA authentication. I managed to connect both Apple TV 2 and the iPad 2 to this network.
The problem we are having is that I can't get the AirPlay icon to appear on the iPad. I can ping Apple TV and iPad from a machine on our network and I can ping Apple TV directly from the iPad.
It seems as though our network maybe preventing something getting through but I don't know what.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing the issue, or perhaps some advice on what else we can try?
I have connected the same Apple TV and iPad 2 devices over a vanilla router and AirPlay works fine so the hardware isn't the issue. Both devices have the lates firmware too.
Many thanks for your help.
James

I'm looking for an app that can do several things. There are apps that I've downloaded and paid for >:-( that do one or even tow of these things, but I want to:
Stream movies (of different file types) from a network drive (WD MyBookLive) to Apple TV, via an iPad.
There are apps that will stream any filetype from a Mac to apple TV, but they need certain server software running on the Mac, so no good for me with my network drive.
There are also apps that will play any filetype on an iPad, streamed from a network drive. But these won't stream to Apple TV.
Is there something that does both, that doesn't require special software on the drive?
Thanks!
I've installed a profile on my apple tv using apple configurator to join my school network with success. My ipad and macbook pro are on the same network all using the same username and password. The airplay icon shows up when they are on the network. I can select it and after about 10-15 seconds it switches back to the ipad and never displays on the apple tv. I was told but an apple rep that it may be a bandwidth issue but that has now been eliminated as a potential problem. Any help would be great. If I use ethernet with both the apple tv and macbook pro I can display using airplay but this does not help with the Ipad or the goal of using wireless.
I currently deployed to Afghanistan. I have the 1st gen 32 gb Wifi only iPad. I need to register the Kindle app but do not have a wifi connection anywhere around. I've created an ADHOC network on my computer and connected my iPad to that. But cannot get my ipad to connect to the internet. All i need is to register the kindle app so that it will open and I can read my books. I have a wired internet connection, but no wireless. Any other suggestions on how to get the ipad to connect to the internet would be helpful!!!!
I have a 3rd gen iPad, an iPhone 5 and 3rd gen ATV, all have been updated to latest OS. The iPhone and iPad easliy connect to the Apple TVs that we've got at work on our corporate network, but do not connect on my home network. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, they'll connect for about 5 minutes and then disappear. Really frustrating!
I'm on Xfinity wireless at home, and the router is Arris TG852. I'm not technicaly at all when it comes to routers or home networking. Someone said that my home network might be preventing the devices from talking to each other..
Can anyone help please? I'd apprecaite any assistance just to get it working normally! Thanks!
