Re: help me convince my dad to choose the ipad over the surface?

Windows Surface tablet is not going to last or have any longevity. Microsoft has a history of releasing crummy half-baked, half realized mobile products and abandoning them within a very short time with no support.

Windows Surface tablets will become an orphaned product and joke.  It runs on a poorly realized  Windows 8 platform and not even Android.

Microsoft spent years trying to make a successful tablet and failed. Everytime. While this offering is one of their better attempts, the poor execution of Window 8, the poor build quality and cheap plastic materials of their tablet and other software/hardware shortcomings will be its demise within 2 years or less.

Not that Android is any better, but, sorry to say, it's better than Windows 8.

They are more expensive for lesser or inferior features than the iPad.

The Apple App Ecosystem is very robust and has no equal and has the most and best Apps available.

The majority of tablet app developers develop apps for Apple mobile devices.

There are A LOT more manufacturers of cases and peripheral devices available that extend what the iPad can do.

The most peripheral items and devices available than for any other tablet manufacturer.

The Microsoft online App Store is a joke!

Apple products are better made and have a one-year AppleCare with the option of 3-year extended AppleCare that can be purchased anytime within the first year of warranty service.

You do not need a Windows PC to run and use an iPad with it. All you need to do is download and install Apple iTunes for Windows to be able to transfer, sync and backup iPad data on a PC.

Have original IPAD that allowed you to choose your carrier during set up. I want to change from Verizon to AT

I have the original iPad that allowed me to choose my data carrier during set up. I want to change from Verizon to AT&T . Is it possible?

Re: Have original IPAD that allowed you to choose your carrier during set up. I want to change from Verizon to AT

There was no original iPad for Verizon. Only AT&T and WiFi. The iPad 2 came in a verison for Verizon. However, it is CDMA only (the network technology that Verizon has been using) and does not have a SIM card slot. The iPads 3 and 4 for Verizon can, apparently be used on AT&T but 3G only, not LTE.
