What email server are you using hotmail,gmail,yahoo or what lever some servers require you to fetch and some allow you to push, if you are using fetch you need to get you iPhone and iPad and put fetch on 15 mins at exactly the same time. So you emails will come through in secs not mins. By the way to get to the fetch settings got to settings mail,contacts,calendars select fetch new data, under fetch select manually fetch data on both devices then select every 15 mins exactly the same time on both devices.
