On my brother's death, I was given his iPad, but I don't know his Apple ID. Can anyone help me out?

My brother died a couple of weeks ago. He was a teacher in Canada and I live in the US. I have no idea what his Apple ID might be, and I need to change the country for both the itunes store and the app store.

Furthermore, the computer that was synced to this iPad is password protected and we cannot get into it. When I try to connect the iPad to my mac, I am asked for his Apple ID.

For the record, his internet service has been discontinued, so resetting the ID via email is not an option.

Thanks in advance for your help.
