Editing and organising on iPad

Hi all,

I really want to use my iPad to edit my photos. Problem is, I can't seem to find a way to retain my original image.

If I do a quick edit in the stock 'Photos' app, then transfer to iPhoto on my Mac, the original and edited version are transferred. Perfect, except 'Photos' is very limited.

I really want to use iPhoto on my iPad but there is no way to retain the original image.

I see a lot of people using iPhoto iOS, include some pro photographers, so do these people not care about retaining originals? Or do they just accept that their photos are instantly 2nd generation once they tranfer back to their Macs?

Am I putting too much stock in keeping the originals? I never used to but using iPhoto on the Mac and these very forums have thought me to use the original!!

Thanks for reading.
