iPad on prevents MBP from sleeping

When my iPad(3) is on (WiFi mode) my MBP will not sleep.

Putting the iPad into the Airplane mode lets my computer sleep normally.

I presume this applies to all Apple computers, but I have only noticed it on my MBP.

This was discovered by reading the Console log:

With the iPad in the Airplane mode, there are few console messages.

However, when I turn the Airplane mode off on the iPad, the console is "flooded" with these kinds of messages:

4/9/12 12:56:33.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

4/9/12 12:56:35.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

4/9/12 12:56:38.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

4/9/12 12:56:41.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

4/9/12 12:56:44.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

4/9/12 12:56:47.000 PM kernel: Limiting closed port RST response from 252 to 250 packets per second

Obviously, my MBP cannot sleep with all this going on. I presume this is normal, and I wonder how long before the log is filled up with this data?
