I have an iTunes server running on a NAS drive (Synology), but since I cannot connect my iPad or Apple TV to it I am wondering what on earth is the point in it?
I understand that I can connect my PC to the iTunes server, but as I have no need to I've not even tried. From my PC I can just point iTunes at the directory on the NAS drive where the music, videos, etc, is stored, so there really is no need to connect iTunes on my PC to the iTunes server. However, I really want to access all my content from my iPad and Apple TV, but Apple just doesn't seem to want to allow that.
The only option Apple provide is Home Sharing, but that means that I have turn my PC on and leave it on just to access content stored on the NAS drive, which is ridiculous. If I have to tur my PC on to access the content on my NAS drive then I might as well use m PC to access it, so why have I bought an iPad and Apple TV?
It appears that I have been very naive in assuming that Apple devices would be able to connect to an Apple iTunes server. And I am wondering what on earth is the point in having an iTunes Server?
Is there anyone out there who agrees? Or are there people out there successfully using an iTunes Server on anything other than a Mac or PC?

I just updated same problem , "Can't find server". I found out when upon auto restoration of my IPAD my password was misspelled ( 2 caricatures short ) . Try SETTINGS >MAIL , CONTACTS, calendars. The name of your server should be there under Mail tap on it, Look at all of it CLOSELY Any letter out of place will keep you up nights. I would of never have noticed accept it gave me the option of settings in the error message. Good luck.

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, and I have an Ipad 4th Gen with an Etisalat (Local carrier) Microsim for cellular data only.
Normally, when I have "Etisalat AF E" in the upper left corder of the screen with a spinning wheel, I have always had an internet connection. The last 24 hours however, I get the same "Etisalat AF E" display but no internet connection -- and when I try to connect I get the "The server cant be found because the DNS lookup failed".
Keep in mind I'm in a remote part of Afghanistan so there is so WiFi and no 3G. I already tried the factory APN settings to no avail.
I've rebooted, reset network settings, took out the microsim and put it back in etc. Nothing works -- Facetime, chat, Instagram, gmail, Safari, Chrome etc.
My questions are:
1) Is it the Sim card?
2) Is it the carrier?
3) Is it the Ipad?
I lost service mid-browsing about 36 hours ago. Very odd. Maybe the Taliban knocked out the server or the Army is jamming.
since upgrade to iOS 6.1.2 On Ipad i am getting email server certificate errors
Is there a fix for this?
On my iMac emails automatically download to inbox & inbox sub folders I've set up. On my iPad emails automatically download to the inbox, however I have to open each inbox sub folder in order for emails to download. Is there a way to change settings so the emails automatically download to sub folders ?
I can not seem to find the out going mail server that is suggested in trying to fix an out going mail problem?
I have checked I have the latest iTunes, removed all other usb devices, removed and re-installed iTunes, rebooted the iPad ... it has no system software just a graphic of a usb connector, an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
This happened when I clicked "yes" to downloading and installing an update to the iPad software - immediately after I clicked yes, it crashed and I haven't seen anything on it since. Been trying over a period of almost one week, everything I can find.
I am trying to restore my ipad, but itunes shows message that unable to connect software update sever. please help?

Onone soft has an app to control your camera remotely using your iPod or Ipad. The sotware is in two apps: one app is installed on ios device and the other app is a server app that is installed on the Imac. Your mobil device connects to the camera over a local WiFi. When I take my camera to another location I would need to install the server app on the clients computer in order to remotely trigger my camera. It would be much easier to plug a flash drive in the clients machine with the server app on the drive. It would also allow me to have the Windows version of the server app as well as the Mac version on flash drives.
When I uploaded music videos to my new ipad mini and when I try to play it, it says "the requested url was not found on this server.
the Video will not play.
