Re: How do you connect a flash drive to the ipad?

Theoretically, yes, you can. However it's so limited it's honestly not worth the effort. I've only had a 50/50 success rate on flash drives. Off brands work best, ones with small LED lights. Kingston and Sandisk don't, at least not out of the box, because they have bundled 'backup' software that tries to run and triggers the iPad's 'draws too much power' warning.

If you do find one that works, all you can transfer to the iPad are photo or video files, and those must follow a very strict naming convention. The files have to be in a folder labeled DCIM and have to have file names of exactly 8 characters.

You can only view thumbnails, no names, and to view the file beyond a thumb nail you must import it into the photos app.

The CCK will not work with music or document files of any type. and you cannot export anything off the iPad via the CCK onto a drive or memory card.

So technically it does work, but it's so limited as to be relatively useless.
