i want to buy an ipad mini for my elderly parents so that we can see each other over skype. they have no internet connection and home, no broadband connection. they refuse to get it. my questions: are ipad minis unlocked so i can buy mobile broadband service on a month to month basis from any carrier? does anyone know of simpler solution? i wanted to get a desktop video telephone but that would involve getting broadband connection at their house which they do not want. i wanted that because it is easier to use. what is out there for old people who cant use computers and at this point can barely use the phone? i want this to keep an eye on them, i live in another country.
